The Magic Of Shamanic Instruments To Connect Us With The Elements

beating-a-drumby Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
the other day I shared an article called 6 spirit guides from the animal kingdom that enjoy mating for life, with inside about shamanic animals that many people share as their personal guiding spirits. Another thing that is gaining more and more on popularity in the human collective, is the use of shamanic instruments in rituals, for meditation, in healing circles and just for fun. All this instruments are loving helper and will support everybody who desires so, and when we know a bit more about the traditional use, the effect f our work might increase as well! So here some insides how shamans use their instruments!

The key to understanding a shaman’s world is to acknowledge, that a shamanic being is always aware of the universe as the source of all, and made of vibrating energy. That every being is a part of this universe, coming from the same constantly transforming existence, that it is simply singled out as ever flowing, rhythmically changing being. By now also quantum physics has proved, that everything in the universe, from the smallest subatomic particle to the largest star, has an inherent vibrational pattern. The own personal soul song, as many African tribes would call it. And because this entire universe is created through vibration, it also can be influenced, transformed, changed and healed through the vibrations of intentional music. So when we seek to align our physical bodies and energetic bodies with the momentary frequency downloads available, than it can help to tap into the healing pattern of shamanic sounds.

“There is nothing in the world that does not
speak to us. Everything and everybody
reveals their own nature, character, and
secrets continuously. The more we open up
our inner sense, the more we can
understand the voice of everything.”

Hazrat Inayat Khan

Probably the most important instrument of the shaman is the drum. The drum symbolizes the beating of the heart, the life force of man and the earth, as the earth also is a living organism. The beating of the drum brings forward the rhythm of the galloping horse, that is carrying the shaman to the underworld or the world of the spirit realms. That is the reason why in many traditions, the drum is also known as ‘the shamans horse’.
The drums are in the healing of the collective often used for initiations; initiations into a new knowledge, initiations to enable the participant to do engage in an act of courage, and initiations to come into contact with one’s own personal highest potential. For students of shamanism, the initiation can also be of the different dimensions, one of entering a parallel universe, or to evoke the seeing of the personal soul Mandala. In essence shamanic drumming is the conscious creation of a sound pattern, for the purpose of inducing a state of higher frequency, so we can connect with the spiritual dimensions of our shared reality. The drum with her deep, profound vibrations, creates for us mainly the connection to the element earth and the healing of the physical body.

The use of singing bowls dates back in shamanic traditions of Tibet approximately 3000 years ago. They were used for rituals, meditation and initiations, as well as for healing. They are amazing helper, because they create multiple harmonic tones at the same time, due to the many metals that are used in their production. They are made from seven different metals.
They contain gold for the sun, silver for the Moon, mercury for Mercury, copper for Venus, iron for Mars, tin for Jupiter, and lead for Saturn. Each of this metals has seven sound pattern or vibrations. Therefore each singing bowl contains 49 different sounds. The sound of a singing bowls is designed to clear and open the mind to the emotional body, allowing us to be open to shifts and changes in frequency and feelings. Tibetans used their singing bowls also to bridge the material and the non-material world. The bowls becomes a transmitter for the translations of spirit into matter and matter back into spirit. The element they represent is the water.shThe bells are in many shamanic traditions used since the iron age. They represent the air element and our connection to the realm of the spirits. Some Shamans use little bells on their clothing, as with the sound of bells spirits are called, or scared away. They also represent the aspects of the female solar divine qualities, our deeper wisdom, the ability to show compassion for all beings and develop unconditional love.
Another version to evoke the air, is the use of a flute. Mostly involved in shamanic work are three kinds of flutes, which represent three different states of mind. The shepherd’s flute, which affects the first and second chakra, the pan flute used to make the connection between the earth and heavens above, and the crystal or jade flute. This flutes are used to invite the angelic realms and the highest spheres of the spirit world. That is why people often when they get in touch with the highest spheres of vibration, hear angels singing and the sounds of divine trumpets.

The in shamanic traditions most spread instrument representing the element of fire, is the gourd rattle, which is known as the sound of creation. Different creation stories tell us of the first ton, a shimmering sound, which went out in all dimensions, that is the sound of the rattle in shamanic sound work. The seeds of the gourd rattle embody the voice of the big spirit, the guidance of the divine plan for the physical body.
Also still in use to evoke the element fire is the simple and ancient sound of the Ratchet. The sound base for the inner fire of alchemy, burning in every being on the planet. The rattles most important job in a healing or initiation ritual, is to sustain the order of existence. Which means, that the inner fire of alchemy is burning for the translation of the divine blueprint for life on planet earth.fwDear Ones, I hope this tips and insides have raised your interest in shamanic sound work and vibration as the essence of creation in general. In case you have a shamanic instrument make sure you are aware of the impacts it brings, in case you are using it on others, so you can help them to the best of your awareness. Hope you have lots of fun letting the magic of your shamanic soul, reflected in your instrument unfold, and allow it to teach you about the ancient knowledge of the universal highways of sound and light. Sing, dance and vibrate yourself into the Golden Age of Aquarius!!
Healing Sounds and Blessing Vibrations!

6 Spirit Guides From The Animal Kingdom That Enjoy Mating For Life

ghby Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
yesterday after sharing my article on
How Indigenous Wisdom, Shamanism, Environmentalism & Our Awakening Meet” I ran into this beautiful post from the White Wolf Pack page, about 10 animals who mate for life. Now some of you might remember  that the last Taurus New Moon brought us the energy field and possibility for a love that lasts. So reading about the beloved animal kingdoms representatives who mate for life, it was immediately visible that 6 out of the 10 examples are also animals well known as helper for humanity. Day by day now, we are collectively tapping deeper into the awareness that we share our reality not only with other people, but also with the Animal Kingdom. More and more people receive messages by the other world, transported by animal spirits.

A personal message to all my facebook friends!! FB is limiting the distribution of my posts daily more. If you resonate with my articles and are used to find my work  shared in a group, rather sign up on my newsletter here to make sure you get the information!!! Over time I might not be able to put in the FB time, if it does not lead to what it is about – SPREADING THE WORD ;-)!

Over the last few month the spirit guides and angelic realm have dropped hints, that we collectively need to make a deeper inner connection with mother earth and our own human nature. With this profounder union in our bones and the chances for love that lasts, I am happy to introduce you to the characteristics of six animal spirit guides that enjoy having a mate for life!wol1.) The Wolfs
One of the most outstanding qualities of the Wolf is the ability of community building. Wolf packs are socially smart, deeply structured and highly organized animal communities. Indeed the wolf can energetically transmit to us, the understanding how Brotherhood of Men works, when we take the deeper animal nature of human beings into account. They can teach us how to stand our ground and defend our boundaries in an appropriate, not hurtful and clear way. An expression that still allows us to keep by heart relaying to another, when our opinions and personal needs go apart. Qualities we need if we want to ground a “love that lasts”. Wolfs have an air of inner freedom to them, even that they are deeply loyal and emotional intelligent in their relationships. Skills we need for the Golden Age of Love!1A_12.) The Eagles
Eagles are messenger from the divine blueprint of our spiritual path on planet earth. Well known about this animals usual behavior is, that when trouble come down on us on planet earth, they simply rise and soar above all clouds. With this strength, they are helping us to develop states of higher consciousness, higher powers of communication and the ability to listen carefully to our intuition. Supported by the eagle medicine we are empowered to deeply ground our spiritual awareness, to purify our energy field and cleans old believe pattern. The eagle reminds us to integrate the awareness of the Hermetic Laws in our life, that all things material are build from the mind.beaver3.) The Beavers
Beaver are the ingenious builder and constructor of new realities with stable foundations. They are representing the power how to step by step come from visions, burning desires, soul dream and insights; to an as stable experienced reality, that represents all this guidance in our life. They give us the encouragement and inspiration that we need, in order to reach our deepest desires and soul goals. Beaver are big team player in general, maybe that is why they have happy marriages ;-). They know how to make everyone in the team feel appreciated, respected and used according to their personal skills. Quite important abilities to develop for humanity too, in the collective awakening process.coyote4.) The Coyotes
Personally I love the Coyote energy. I called my first dog Coyote for his cheeky character and childlike playfulness, even in old age. The Coyote is the clown of the nature realms, known for his trickster, shape-shifter, and transformer qualities. The Coyote tells us to be mindful of the impact of the hermetic laws in our actions. To raise our awareness for the inner self-sabotage system, that allows us to play tricks on ourselves and others (the illusion of Maya). Coyote also reminds us that the consequences of our actions effect more than just ourselves, as we are truly one on this planet and beyond. In his playful ways, he brings along endings and new beginnings, and therefor represents the cycle of life and death in nature.ra5.) The Ravens
The Ravens are representatives of the divine magic within the material world. They bring us higher awareness of the divine balance between the light and the dark side of existence. Wise as they are, they are master of the time and space continuum. A bridge between the underworld, the present moment on planet earth and the spirit realms. When in tune with the ravens medicine, we are moving through transitions and changes of consciousness more smoothly and from a place of inner ease. Profound healing created by the renewal of our energy are possible under the influence of the raven power. condor6.) The Condors/New World Vultures
The vulture is all about rising to higher awareness, patience and resourcefulness. Like most of us, vultures like eating well, but they do not hunt! What they know to do best, it to seizes the chances and resources that show themselves as available. From them we can learn how to go from “working hard” for our dreams and soul desires; to allowing them to present themselves to us!! When we have the passion and clarity to plant our seeds well, the vulture medicine will help us develop the patience it takes, to receive. When we are about to develop new abilities or projects, the vulture is also bringing message to make sure we check our core values before we call new beginnings into manifestation! Vultures have well developed physical senses. They can smell fresh meat from miles away and have highly advanced vision. Connecting with the vulture medicine remembers us to trust our body, to also develop our higher physical senses and become one with nature within.

Dear Ones, I hope you enjoy this insides and find maybe also some guidance for your personal path in them. I hope you are motivated and will have fun developing a relationship with the animal spirit guides. Let your body teach you, motivated by the animal kingdoms loving guidance!
Love and Nature Blessings!!

“Desiderata” The Things We Collectively Desire For This World

desiderataby Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
can you believe how much has changed already again during the few weeks of
this year? If you look back, isn’t it mind blowing how quick this one and a half month have passed by? Can you even remember how many little death you have been dying, and how many small acts of rebirth you have allowed in this time? During this transition into the Golden Age of Aquarius, at the end it is all about how easy we can pass thru things that require change from us. How easily we can allow ourselves a mental or emotional death, that gives birth to a deeply peaceful new part inside of us.
And it is about how much of the collective desires we can feel and support on our way, so that the broad masses can come to a place of ease with the transformations to come. That the changes may come as gentle death, using his power carefully and gentle. The American writer Max Ehrmann (1872–1945) wrote this beautiful prose poem “Desiderata” in 1927. In 1956, the Reverend Frederick Kates, rector of Saint Paul’s Church in Baltimore, Maryland, included Desiderata in a compilation of devotional materials for his congregation. Until today it is an excellent tool to show our devotion to the divine plan, in prayer and contemplation.

DESIDERATA

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they also have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.1280x720-jaXIn the belly of a pregnant woman were two babies:
One asks the other: – Do you believe in life after birth?
– Of course. Something must exist after delivery. Maybe we’re here because we need to prepare for what we will be later.
– Silly stuff! There is no life after birth. What would that life be like?
– I do not know … but surely there will be more light here. Maybe we walk with our own feet and we nurture through the mouth.
– That’s absurd! Walking is impossible. And eating by mouth? That’s ridiculous! The umbilical cord is where we eat from. I tell you one thing: life after childbirth is excluded. The umbilical cord is too short.
– Well, I think there must be something. And maybe it’s different from what we are used to here.
– But no one has ever come back from the beyond, after delivery. Delivery is the end of life. And after all, life is nothing but a harrowing existence in the darkness that leads nowhere.
– Well, I do not know exactly how it will be after delivery, but surely we will see our mom and she will take care of us.
– Mom? You believe in a Mom? And where is she now you think?
– Where? All around us! On her and through her is how we live. Without her, this whole world would not exist.
– Well, I do not think so! I’ve never seen a Mama, therefore, it is logical that there is non.
– Well, but sometimes when we are silent, you can hear her singing or feel caresses our world. You know … I think there is a real life that awaits us and only now we are preparing for it …

Dear Ones, I hope this words bring much inspiration, happiness and hope to your heart. That you feel motivated and faithful on your personal path of awakening, and in all your manifestations and dreams for the Golden Age of Aquarius, for all humanity!! I wish you lots of success with the prayer and the awakening to the divine child, you always have been!!
Sending Blessings Love and Ferry Dust!!!

10 Signs you are called to be a Western Shaman

woshaby Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
yesterday I shared my personal experience of, manifesting my own spirit into my physical body, by performing a song for the group I shared a three day Community Forum with. I ended my sharing with the sentence, “And while the others watched and heard me singing a song, my mind claimed physical immortality“. Again that has created a ripple effect of emotions, that came to me as responds. From a simple, “impossible”, to “who do you think you are” to “you are delusional and blinded by illusions of greatness”, every possible ankle was discussed and collectively decided, that I am not capable of doing, what I sad. So let me explain a little bit closer the term “physical immortality”, from a shamanic point of few. Most people when they hear the words, think of Vampires, Zombies and other creatures trapped in a physical body on earth, not capable of dying. But in a shamanic sense the gift of immortality is understood as – a person who by study, understanding and experience of emotional, mental, spiritual and physical death; has earned the right to choose time and circumstances of their own physical death. And don’t get me wrong, that does not always mean you have a pretty and gentle death… the most famous example world wide for such a death is probably “Jesus Christ”… it only means that you are in harmony in alliance and inner peace with your own physical passing, in the moment of its occurrence.
Now you also should know, that in most Shamanic Traditions, the Shaman was not simply somebody well trained and therefor capable of helping their community but, a person chosen by the spirit guides. A human being with a personal calling for healing and community building, for representing the divine laws in their community and guiding others by sharing their wisdom. The beginning of a shamanic life journey for such a person is very often “a near death experience”, “witnessing the death of another person or bigger animal” or the sudden presence of Family Spirits. The first time I nearly died in this lifetime, was when I was 11month old. My throat started to swell so much, that it took a lot of medication and attention, to get me back on the good side of life. Looks like already in this age I had a feeling for the nearly impossible task it would be, to express myself and be heard, in the family I had chosen as my birth clan. And from this moment on, death would not leave my side anymore. When I was three I witnessed the death of my guinea pig. When I was five I nearly drowned in a swimming pool, because an older girl decided to sit on me on the bottom of the pool – as a respond to a verbal disagreement. Somewhere along the years I watched my second guinea pig die. When I was 10 years old, my middle brothers best friend killed a girl of 14 years – helping her take her first Heroin shot (and we lived in the embassy area of Vienna in that time). I could go on and on until the 3year season of the death of my father in 2009, the death of my very first dog companion in 2010 – in my embrace, and the death of my youngest brother in 2011.
All credits of my claim for “physical immortality” in a shamanic sense. Her Spirit Master guided her but, SHE CHOSE OF HER OWN FREE WILL, to follow them.ashIn this moment of time, many shamanic talented people are born into Western Cultures all over the globe. People with tremendous abilities, but no guidance to help them understand or chance to develop their personal powers. A big amount of Shamanic Souls in the western world, created health threatening conditions such as Deep Depression, Hebephrenia, Schizophrenia, Multiple Personalities, Mental Retardation, Dyslexia, Sexual Disorientation, Hallucinations, Suicidal Tendencies and Spiritual Delusions. All appearing as expressions of their soul desire and true strength, that do not find expression in the world. Now is the time to awaken to the healthy side of all of this expressions and realize our true origin and personal strength.

Here a list of situations and traits often named as signs for a Western Shaman:
1.) You where born “with a caul or cowl”, which is a thin membrane still enveloping the head and face after birth? This is worldwide recognized as a sign of a special relationship with the Spirit World. In Buddhist Tradition it is considered the birth of an enlightened Buddha Being. It represents the still intact oneness of material world and spirit world, after the physical birth moment. A spirit so clear, that it stayed unaffected by the birthing process.

2.) Has your birth been especially difficult, intensify traumatic or even life threatening? Welcome to a lifetime of shamanic soul experience!! You seam to have chosen the thin line between life and death, the small part of this same coin, to dance your life on. This kind of experiences are invitations to learn profoundly the teachings of wisdom about death, in order to overcome the illusion and gain “physical immortality” within this lifespan. The possibility is there – the leap of faith is yours to take.

3.) You have paranormal abilities, such as predictive dreams, telepathy or regular past-life contact, from childhood on? You are able to cure or relieve physical pains by using your hearts unconditional love, prayers and/or your hands? There are always some early signs for a special gift, a call a feeling for purpose, when you are destined to be a Western Shaman. As these qualities proceed from years, even lifetimes, of suffering, sacrifice, and impeccable human effort.

4.) Have you fallen deathly sick in early childhood, survived a deep coma, had a near death experience or spend your nights constantly in the state of lucid dreaming? This are all considered calls from the spirit world. In shamanic traditions especially being on the verge of drowning and survived a fire of some sort, are seen as signs of a calling to become a Shamanic Healer.

5.) Do you have a tendency to guide yourself thru shamanic journeys and are able to allow there, what ever needs to happen without taking harm? A person usually brings back shamanic powers from such a journey, especially when it included terrifying and dangerous situations. If you have a talent to guide yourself thru the dark and back into the light – than you also have a talent to guide others!Shamani6.) In this ordinary reality or in your dream world, have you met the same animals over and over again?? Do you feel what they are thinking? Are you able to communicate with wildlife thru your consciously directed thoughts? Can you sense the natural powers and abilities the animals have, that are also valuable strength for a successful human life?

7.) When you enter an old building, can you sense the lifetimes spend in this walls? Do you see inner pictures of outstanding life moments, experienced by people who lived there? Can you sense when Spirits are still living in the house and feel curiosity about their reasons to stay on, maybe even the call to help them move on? That’s what Shamans do!

8.) Have you shown tendencies to be a splendid artist, musician, dancer, poet, singer, craftswoman / man or entrepreneur, from childhood on? Have you always felt that your art expresses by vibration your true-self better, than any words could ever do? Are you naturally directing energies with your musical expressions? Do you feel a need to create harmony, healing and peace, when you consciously send out your vibrations into the world?

9.) You have a strong desire to help others, and clear spiritual insights how. You have a strengths for self-healing, on mental – emotional and physical level. You can allow yourself to propeller through the dark tunnels of fear, anger, aggression and hatred, to a place of faith and divine sanctuary – within the whole Universe. And you feel the need to take others thru this tunnel into their own soul’s light.

10.) You regularly have met Angels (that can mean see them, feel them, hear them,… what ever your form of receiving is) have repeatedly encountered the same teacher figure or animal spirit in your dreams, your games or quiet time, when you where little. Did this energies stay with you when you grew up? Can you still contact them at any time? Did they become your friends and love whisperer? A natural Shaman feels the inner need, to cultivate this kind of special relationships.

I hope this little set of insights allows you to connect with the inner shaman in you. That if you find yourself gifted according to this list, you may find a wise and kind teacher, who can lead you to the fully developing your strength and beauty in this world. With a Shamanic Gift, you have the incredible chance to see the whole world as a place of magical games of energy frequencies.  A place of love and light in different degrees of vibration. With some devotion and practice it can become your second nature to link into your personal divine guidance when ever you need it. And always remember, you are worthy to live your life to the fullest, to love and cry and dance and sing as long as you “sail your vessel 😉“!
Love and Blessings
Edith

The Awakening Path of a Female Shaman – My Body, My Sanctuary

mineby Edith Boyer-Telmer

Dear Friends,
Last week I spend three days at a Community Building Forum, based on ZEGG principles. The work we did to learn a bit more about each other, and grow in understanding and compassion for another, collectively already opened up many wonderful doors. But there was also an amazing moment for my personal development, that I love sharing with you. I felt open to let the group know, that for 40years of my life I experiences “myself”, as again and again slightly floating above my body. You see, I never had the feeling of existing as a physical being only, rather a “something” trying to fit into a body. That lead to the development of so many of the gifts and strength, that I am sharing now in my work. And for many heavy years, to a feeling of disconnection and mistrust. Coming from a family background where I had to wideness physical abuse, without being violated myself, had made me cautious of the wide range of possible physical pain. When I was 30 I was lead to the beginning of my conscious shamanic path, and 14 years ago now – I tapped into the uniting world of Tantra.
With the support of body-work, inner child work, the liberation of my voice and redirection of my mind – toward peace between men and women – I released my personal past, the past of my family tree and found my most stable home ever – IN MY BODY.  14 years, 2 completed circles of renewal (7 years each) it took for me, to understand the teachings that I had received in details and energy, integrate this brand new mindset, relay everything to the past I had experienced, and apply the new found wisdom in my everyday life. So my actions are fit for the Golden Age of Aquarius. And what does all of this have to do with the forum, you might ask. Well, the forum gave me the chance to do what I do best, when I seek personal evolution. I sang.
Funny story is, when I channel desired strength, energetic qualities or simple my own soul – I don’t sing spiritual songs or Mantras, like most people do. I sing Country songs, Musical numbers and big Broadway shows…. Feel invited to laugh a little… ;-)…. I wanted the group to feel me, to feel by vibration – how I feel about life, my passion for sharing this planet in this moment – with an awakening collective, my gratitude and bliss – for finally resting so peacefully in my physical body, and allowing life to direct the path. To do so, I chose “The River” from Garth Brooks. And while the others watched and heard me singing a song, my mind claimed physical immortality. The right to consciously decide time and setting of “the death” of my physical body.

I will sail my vessel, till the river runs dry
like a bird upon the wind, this waters are my sky
I’ll never reach my destination, if I never try
so I will sail my vessel, till the river runs dryas

This is an excerpt from an article By Peggy Andreas, which beautifully explains the shamanic influenced ways and directions – I feel so blessed to have naturally been guided to.
The Path of the Shaman heals the Body. The Body? Haven’t most of us been conditioned to believe that the Body is somehow inferior to the Spirit, to the Soul? America’s Elders—the Native Americans—have always taught that the Body, our personal connection of substance and spirit, is sacred. An ancient song of the Salish Women’s Society runs:

Who cannot love her Self cannot love anybody.
Who is ashamed of her body is ashamed of all life.
Who finds dirt and filth in her body is lost.
Who cannot respect the gifts given even before birth, can never respect anything fully.

A Shaman’s Path begins with her own Body and involves the generation, control, storage, channeling, exchange, and release of energy. Principles recently “discovered” by modern scientists have been known to Shamans since ancient times, for example: Entrainment (“If two rhythms are nearly the same and their sources are in close proximity, they will always lock up, fall into synchronicity.”; E=mc² – the interchangeability of energy and matter; and much more. A Shaman perceives the Body as a luminous cluster, a sacred act, a whirling act of power and beauty. Exploring the Body, one becomes a specialist in vibration, harmony, and balance. Curious to bridge other dimensions, the awareness reaches out like a lightning rod. When that awareness is illuminated, her own Body grounds the energy and releases it into the Earth so that it does no harm. Some scientific principles have not yet caught up with shamanistic knowledge, for instances, the principle of Gravity. A modern-day Shaman puts it this way, “The earth is calling to you. It has something for you. This great creature upon which we live wishes to give you its energy to empower your life.”
Westerners shun this gift. They call it GRAVITY and think it’s a force that wants to pull us down to the center of the earth. Instead, be like a tree, sinking roots down into the earth’s magnetism. Reach out with your branches and leaves for light and air from above!”. Acquiring shamanic power involves a kind of death/rebirth experience. It involves letting go of the self, eliminating habits that make up the personality, dispensing with the “self-dialogue,” getting out of the way and letting the universe do the talking. When the Shaman traditionally dies to herself, she is born into the larger community of the Tribe of the Cosmos as a representative of Earth. “Essentially, a woman’s spiritual way is dependent on the kind of power she possesses, the kind of Spirit to whom she is attached, and the tribe to which she belongs. She is required to follow the lead of the Spirits and to carry out the tasks assigned to her. Native American stories point to a serious event that results in the death of the protagonist, her visit to the Spirit realm from which she finally returns, transformed and powerful. After such events, she no longer belongs to her tribe or her family, but to the Spirit teacher who instructed her.shaman_spirit_feather_pic1Seeking the Body’s wisdom, a Shaman continually centers herself in her womb, her belly, or her solar plexus, NOT in her head. The lower center brings her to a better foundation from which to move. It also anchors her runaway thought processes and brings her to an alignment with the Body of the Earth. In order to use her own energy efficiently, the Shaman must become flexible, fluid. To do this, she must confront the blockages of fear stored in the Body. Her task is to melt the blocks of fear with the energy that she generates; indeed, the word “Shaman” literally means “to heat oneself.” Personal freedom comes from letting go and learning to trust in one’s Body to find its own vibration, balance and harmony.
It also has been said, that the first Shaman invented our human sexuality. A Shaman is a self-erotic being. In love with her own Body and with the Body of Earth. She heats herself, burning off the dross, centering herself in her own luminosity. She radiates well-being and self-confidence. Her leadership emerges out of a passion for life and is sustained by balance.

Power is strength and the ability to see yourself through your own eyes and not the eyes of another. If a person has power, as women do, and she doesn’t use it, power will sit within her and have no place to focus. It is then that power becomes twisted and evil. It can turn against the person who has called it.

If this need stays unnoticed a certain point, the psychical energy peaks almost unbearably. As met with a hostility or even abusive beahvior (as usually happens in a world that lacks understanding), the potential Shaman may turn the energy in on herself, or outwards, becoming hostile and abusive to others. Which would create even more harm This is not to say that an initiate cannot receive help. If she is sincere in her desire for healing, she will find the proper catalysts and midwives for birthing the Shaman in herself. In the ancient tribal ways, she could find an experienced Shaman in her own community to explain what was happening to her, and ease her way a bit. This older, wiser one would give her exercises that can train her to control the degree and timing of “opening the flower of her awareness.”
Tribal people believe that becoming a Shaman is a matter of destiny; and that if a destined person resists becoming a Shaman, she will become more and more entangled in her own problems. Modern-day Shamans have learned to grow from the mistakes that Shamans of the past have made. Keeping what works, they’ve thrown the rest away. They have let go of arrogance and embraced simplicity. They are not afraid to frolic and have fun. They have made a commitment to serve the life-force; and they draw their personal strength and unity from that commitment.
