this is from July 15th, so not totally fresh but never less – changes are coming in all types of power institutions – why not initiated by the catholic church. We will see if the GOP really see the need to take notice of his speech. It will be interesting to see if his words also apply to the wealth of the church and if he is planing on any changes in his own rotten system.
Is it possible he is one of the people, who will make significant changes in this world?
Can the church once again raise to a trusted and trustworthy place of worship and sanctuary for the people of this world?
Or is it time humanity replaces religion with connection, belief with sensory awareness and manifested churches with an inner altar of light?? That’s what my mind wonders. How do you feel?
Love and blessings – what ever your belief! May you be guided!
Pope Francis dealt a serious blow to the religious right who still tout trickle down economics on Thursday night. The pope gave a scorching sermon denouncing Capitalism and had very strong words for those who stand behind it. Calling the “unfettered pursuit of money the dung of the devil” He makes himself VERY clear about how he feels. Pope Francis wrote:
“Some people continue to defend trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world. This opinion, which has never been confirmed by facts, expresses a crude and naive trust in those wielding economic power and in the sacralized workings of the prevailing economic system.”
The Pope has drawn the line in the sand and the “free Market” groupies will now need to decide, will they side with money and disregard the Supreme Being, or will denounce the ‘trickle Down’ economics?
We are excited to see where this leads many 2016 GOP hopefuls. Free Market and trickle down is an old staple in the Right’s bag. Donald Trump is the living, walking, bloviating example of greed. Will one of the many GOP hopefuls latch onto this and use it to help bring the base away from Trump? Or will they go with the GOP ol’ favorite and double-down?
While Pope Francis’ view of money may seem unconventional to the GOP message, it’s as old as the Bible. A person just has to read the Bible and they can understand that greed and power were things that were detested by Jesus and a main focus of message. “Help the poor, feed the poor, love the poor”, not “let the free market sort out the problems”.
While it is fun to watch the Republicans tie themselves into knots trying to justify greed and still preach about Jesus, this recent quote from the Pope will only make it more of a spectacle as the race progresses. I think we are all curious to see how the right can defend its greed and still court the religious voting base.
Who will win in this Clash of the Titans between sense and cents? Stay tuned.
